Yoga has shown some beneficial results in curing diabetes. In yoga exercises that are prescribed for curing diabetes is different from hatha yoga exercises, because the position includes tailored to certain conditions, as well as meditation, stretching exercises and relaxation.</p>

<p>The study showed that a vegetarian diet, moderate exercise and one hour everyday of yoga and meditation can be a reversal of arteriosclerosis, a blockage of the arteries that can lead to a heart attack in men and women who were rigorously following the daily regimen.</p>
<p>Experts say that this is the first study to report that such a blockade could be reversed without the use of cholesterol-lowering drugs or surgery.</p>
<p>The study, which was performed by Dr. Dean Ornish, director of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, California, was presented during the meeting of the American Heart Association in New Orleans.</p>
<p>This is a tremendously important study in the fight against cardiovascular diseases. It is the first study indicating regression of coronary heart disease without pharmaceutical intervention. The results also suggest that the current medical guidelines for changes in the habits of people with severe cardiovascular disease do not go far enough.</p>
<p>Previous studies have shown that exercise and diet changes can delay the progression of cardiovascular disease, but not vice versa.</p>
<p>Although the study does not determine what percentage of the improvement can be attributed to lifestyle changes alone the researchers found that stress-control methods has been shown to ease restoration of various diseases such as hypertension.</p>
<p>But some experts are skeptical about the need for stress-management methods, which are currently not covered by the standard recommendations for people with severe cardiovascular disease.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You need not fall into the mode stress of life. You can use the breath to relax, instead of stress, your mind and body. Yoga helps you to relearn that natural state that your body and mind want to be: relaxation.</p>
<p>Deep breathing is both calming and energizing. The energy you feel from a few minutes of careful breath is not nervous or hyper, but that peaceful, stable energy that we all need. Slow, steady and quiet breathing gives a message to your nervous system: Be calm.<br />
Entire books have been written about yoga breathing. Here is a 5-minute Break Breath. (Read the instructions several times before attempting the practice.)<br />
1. Sit with your back as straight as possible. Use a chair, if necessary, but not decrease. Feet have to flat on the floor with the knees directly above the center of your feet. Use a book or pillow under your feet, as they do not rest comfortably on the floor. The hands are on the tops of your legs.</p>
<p>2. Close your eyes and let them rest gently behind closed lid.</p>
<p>3. Think of your ribs on the front, back, and on the side of your body. Your lungs are behind the ribs.</p>
<p>4. Feel your lungs fill your ribs to expand and up. Feel emptying your lungs, your ribs back down and in. Do not push the breath.</p>
<p>5. The first few times you do this, do it for 2 to 3 minutes, and then do it for 5 to 10 minutes. At first, set aside a time at least once a day to do so. When you learn how good it makes you feel, do you want to do this at other times too.</p>
<p>Like a stressful situation goes to your next challenge, relaxing for a few minutes per day gradually into the rest of your daily life and activities.</p>

It will take a little time to find a teacher. Diabetic care nurse or other health educators may recommend a yoga teacher. Get recommendations for a yoga instructor, you would for a professional, it is advisable to consult.</p>
<p>Yoga teachers are not required to recognized, but many, many different programs. Ask prospective teachers if they are certified. A certified teacher is not necessarily better than someone who is not certified, but it is something to consider.</p>

<p>Learn how to prevent and treat low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). If you have an oral or insulin, monitor your blood sugar before, during and after the exercise.</p>
<p>If you have type I, and your blood sugar more than 250 milligrams per deciliter, check your urine for ketones. Do not exercise if ketones are present, because the exercise increases the risk of ketoacidosis and coma.</p>
<p>Always warm up and cool down at the time of yoga.</p>
<p>Do not exercise outside if the weather is too hot or too cold and damp.</p>
